The Mod.1911 (Government) was the pistol used by the US Armed Forces for 74 years: from 1911 to 1985. It was also the standard issue weapon of the US Army during the First World War. Robust and reliable from its first version, it was modernised in 1926, becoming the M1911 A1, then, during the Second World War, it was once again the standard issue pistol of the US Army, as well as arming many soldiers of the Allied forces as part of the Lend-Lease programme.
Still widely used by police and special units, and even more so on the civilian market, the Colt 1911 has easily surpassed a century of existence.
Since the patents expired, the Colt M1911 has been reproduced by many manufacturers, but one of the best versions is probably that of Taurus. Manufactured in machined steel, dimensions and parts to original standards. Technical
